For the latest edition of The Current, our annual publication, UECo. photographer Anne Chandler snapped portraits of more than a dozen of our team members. Not only did the project result in some pretty stunning images of a cross-section of the people behind our product, it also gave us an opportunity to capture their individual stories, from personal passions and pursuits to professional goals and milestones. Over the next few months, we’ll share these stories with you, beginning with the three team members below, who shared their thoughts on what our internal motto, Always Proud, Never Satisfied, means to them.
“There was a time in my Order Specialist days when I was called “Hawk Eye” for any tiny finishing imperfections I would catch on the line, and I think that reputation has preceded me into my role in Product Development. I’ve called out the Design Engineers for changing something by as much (or as little depending on how good your eyes are!) as 1/16”, even 1/32”, and they think I’m crazy…and I probably am, but I believe it all makes a difference. So if you were to ask the Design Engineers when I’m never satisfied, they’ll say all the time, but it’s only because I care so much about upholding the integrity of our designs.”
“I've been proud since I got hired by Urban Electric, but the day I became a Master Craftsman was a truly amazing moment.”
"Stepping back from a finished painting, smeared in paint with a brush in hand, I’ll feel accomplished. I’m grateful for my creativity and the technical skills I’ve cultivated, but I’ll never be satisfied with any work of mine. Learning never ends.”
