Color is a foundational element of The Urban Electric Company. It is also the easiest way to customize our collection of fixtures. Here are ten of our favorite hues, all of which, through the years, have become signatures — from Farrow & Ball’s whisper-pink Calamine to the acid yellow powder coat made famous by our Cosy pendant.
1. RAL Curry
The new neutral. Curry is bright, bold, subtle and sophisticated all at once. Just as beautiful when paired with brass as it is with nickel. This shade has become one of our staples and is definitely here to stay.
2. RAL Olive
This classic shade of green was the perfect choice to launch our Chiltern Double pendant, our elevated take on the double-shaded pendant. The hue calls to mind richly appointed country homes, cozy kitchens and mahogany-lined libraries.
3. RAL Basalt Grey
This deep, glossy grey made it's debut on one of our go-to kitchen island pendants, the Mac. It's especially beautiful when combined with the soft glow of hewn brass accents and acts as the perfect complement to the rich grey veining of the Carrera marble countertops that dominated the white kitchen trend.
4. RAL Neon Yellow
Our iconic Cosy lantern made a bold statement nearly a decade ago by mixing polished brass and this neon yellow powder coat. Long after the neon trend has faded in fashion, it has become an unexpectedly timeless finish combination.
5. Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue
Our first painted fixture was the Chisholm Hall lantern in Benjamin Moore's Wythe Blue. The color became so synonymous with the fixture that it was dubbed 'Chisholm Blue' internally. The color has become such a signature to our brand that even the espresso machine in our cafe was custom powder-coated in the soft blue-green hue.
6. Benjamin Moore Van Deusen Blue
A classic navy that pairs beautifully with warm and cool metals. Van Deusen Blue made its mark when launched in combination with hewn brass on our beloved semi-flushmount, The Flat.
7. Benjamin Moore Red
Steeped in history and tradition, red evokes strong emotions and is the perfect color for making a bold statement. After years of being firmly planted in the blue camp, our creative director has declared Red our color of the year.
8. Farrow & Ball Calamine
This powdery, barely-there pink from Farrow & Ball made it's debut on the Harper pendant. Since then, it has found its way onto many fixtures in the collection when a dash of not-too-obvious femininity is called for.
9. Farrow & Ball St. Giles Blue
This bold, but decidedly historic shade of blue was reinvigorated during the restoration of St. Giles House by The Right Honourable Nicholas E. A. Ashley-Cooper, 12th Earl of Shaftesbury; the hall of the estate was painted in the cheery blue hue. We love it when paired with bold red or deep burgundy.
10. Farrow & Ball Studio Green
Our London-inspired Chelsea lantern was the perfect canvas to feature this rich green-black hue. In combination with heirloom silver accents, it quickly became a classic after being shown in the kitchen of beloved Charleston-based architect, Mark Maresca.
The best part? Our Custom Color program doesn’t stop here. Through our innovative paint and powder coat programs, you tell us the brand and hue, or give us a sample of wallpaper or fabric, and we’ll exact-match it for the ultimate expression of our customization capabilities.
